We believe in nurturing the spirit through exercise. By working to achieve goals and expectations, we gain control of our bodies, and have an enormous amount of fun in the process. All of our sessions and classes focus on the individual mind-body connection, the benefit of which is a feeling of true wellness.

We have created an atmosphere that allows each individual to work at their own pace without pressure to perform or be "perfect", so whether you are just starting out on the road of fitness and have never punched a bag before, or you are learning advance Reformer techniques, your body will be challenged and your spirit nurtured in just the way you need it to be.

Athena Thompson
Athena grew up in an active environment.  She did and still does enjoy all exercise outdoors, such as skiing, horseback riding, running and hiking, and this love propelled her into the career she loves so dearly today.
As a young adult, she began working in the weight room at a local YMCA, eventually taking the job as Fitness Director, a job she kept for 13 years.  She then took over as Director of Personal Training and Group Fitness for a for-profit gym, taking 4 more years to learn the "business" of fitness.  Throughout this time, Athena also worked at Bristol Meyers Squibb in their corporate fitness center, and earned her BS in Biology and Communications at Albertus Magnus College.
In 2001, Athena was recruited as a master teacher/trainer for ISCA (International Sports and Conditioning Association), allowing her to travel and certify other fitness professionals in Kickboxing, Pilates and Personal Training.  As well, and more importantly, this gave Athena world-class training in cutting edge fitness modalities and trends, learning from the best of the best.  She is still proud to be part of the ISCA family, continuing to grow and learn as the best fitness professional she can be.
Having earned many different certifications over the years, Athena continues her education annually, and brings all the knowledge and expertise back home to Fitness Synergy.  Thirty years later, we are entering our tenth year of business as Fitness Synergy.
